There are people in jail for smoking and selling marijuana who are now watching the crime that got them locked up become legal.
“We see a lot of people who come in that have been charged that have a doctor’s recommendation but still were not protected,” said attorney Amanda Connor.
While medical marijuana patients and future sellers wait for legal weed to hit the streets, they are not waiting alone.
Several are in jail cells or on parole or living as felons.
Call them victims of timing for having been arrested for something that in a matter of months will be legal.
“It has lasting effect for basically a life time,” Conner said. “It can have a wide-ranging effect.”
