Compassion and empathy be damned… Ignorance and arrogance are in fashion on the Great Lakes.

Minnesota’s governor, Mark Dayton, urged the parents of sick children in support of legalizing medical marijuana – to get their medicine illegally on the dangerous streets of “The Gopher State.”

Pissed off and prepared to fight, a group of parents held an emotional press conference Wednesday afternoon, where some called the governor’s suggestion insensitive and offensive. Fighting to keep their emotions in check, the parents put the governor on notice, the medical needs of their children are not political fodder for the advancement of his career.

The shocking statement came when parents were picketing outside the governor’s mansion two weeks ago, and were surprised when invited inside to speak with the governor about their issue.

Inside, the concerned parents shared their stories with the governor. Much to their dismay, the group of parents were blown away when Gov. Dayton suggested they purchase the weed illegally from local street dealers, or in another state.

As a means of pacifying the righteously upset parents, the governor has proposed a $2 million study on the potential benefits of medical marijuana. Unfortunately for those seeking real science, the proposed study would only utilize synthesized cannabinoids (Marinol) on kids.
